ICF Coaching Agreement & Terms
This agreement is part of a coaching approach grounded in care, clarity, and professional standards, aligned with the principles of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).
About Studio20
Studio20, initiated by Marianne de Kuyper, is a space that becomes what you need it to be. A coaching room, a yoga studio, a writing atelier, or a quiet place to land.
The name is a playful wink to my birthday on September 20, and to the sparks of curiosity and creativity that shape my work. Coaching sessions take place in Dutch or English, online or in person.
I invite you to read this agreement slowly. If anything feels unclear, you are always welcome to ask. You can best reach me at hello@studio20.me.
What Coaching Is
According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), coaching is a partnership with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
At Studio20, coaching is a reflective and client-led process. You decide what you want to explore, the pace of the process, and the actions you take. My role is to listen attentively, ask meaningful questions, and support awareness, clarity, and choice.
Coaching is not therapy and does not replace medical, psychological, or psychiatric care. I do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions or trauma. You remain responsible for your own physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, as well as for your choices and actions.
How We Work Together
Coaching sessions are real conversations, whether online or in person. We work at your pace, with space to pause, reflect, or name boundaries at any time.
Coaching is intentional and goal-oriented. Each session is connected to what you want to move toward. With your consent, I may reflect back what I hear, rephrase what you share, or offer an observation. These reflections are always invitations, never advice. You are free to accept, decline, or redirect the conversation at any moment.
The coaching process may evolve over time as your focus shifts. Outcomes cannot be predicted or guaranteed.
You are free to pause, reschedule, or end the coaching process at any point. If something no longer feels aligned, I invite open and respectful communication so we can reflect together on next steps.
Roles and Responsibility
Coaching is a co-creation. Your role as a client is to engage honestly with your own process, show up to sessions, take responsibility for your choices, and experiment with actions that support your desired direction. You are encouraged to name your needs, questions, and boundaries so the coaching remains aligned and supportive.
My role as a coach is to create a safe, respectful, and confidential space; listen attentively; ask thoughtful questions; and support awareness and clarity in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies. These include ethical practice, establishing trust and safety, maintaining presence, active listening, evoking awareness, and partnering with you to define meaningful next steps.
Professional Background and Training
Currently I’m completing a Diploma in Coaching with the Institute of Coaching in Dublin. This training pathway is aligned with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and leads toward the ICF ACC (Associate Certified Coach) credential, with the option to continue toward PCC (Professional Certified Coach). I do not yet hold an ICF credential and will apply for certification after completing the required training, coaching hours, and assessment process.
Alongside this coaching training, I bring experience from several complementary fields, including work as an English language teacher, student counsellor, international student coordinator, and yoga teacher. I have also completed multiple yoga teacher trainings and have worked with individuals and groups in reflective, learning, and wellbeing settings for many years.
These experiences shape the way I listen, reflect, and stay curious in conversation. Coaching itself remains a dedicated and client-led process where your perspective, choices, and direction lead the way.
Continuity, Confidentiality, and Notes
Everything you share in coaching is treated with respect and confidentiality, within legal limits. Personal information is not shared without your consent, except where legally required or in situations involving serious risk of harm.
To support continuity and professional reflection, I may take brief notes during or after sessions. These notes are for my personal use only and are stored securely. Sessions are not recorded unless we explicitly agree on this in advance.
With your permission, I may occasionally send a short follow-up message or email with reflections or questions to support the time between sessions. This may take place via email or agreed messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or Signal. These check-ins are intended as gentle support and do not replace coaching sessions or emergency care. This is always optional.
Practical Agreements
A coaching process usually consists of a series of sessions. The number, duration, and frequency of sessions are agreed upon together in advance.
If concerns arise about the coaching process or practical arrangements, I invite open and respectful communication.
Financial Agreements & Cancellations
Coaching fees are agreed upon beforehand and are non-refundable. I understand that life can be unpredictable, and I offer flexibility for one last-minute cancellation or rescheduling. Any additional last-minute cancellations cannot be refunded or rescheduled.
Practical arrangements regarding payment or scheduling are made separately. Coaching may be paid by you, an employer, or in kind. When coaching is paid for by an employer, the coaching content remains confidential and client-led.
Further Reading (Optional)
