QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

My path, in full

Over the years I've explored many ways to help people grow, learn and reconnect with their inner spark. My professional path weaves together yoga teaching, coaching & mentoring, English language teaching and communication and my approach blends creativity, calm, clarity and care. Here’s what I’ve trained in and learned along the way.

Yoga Teaching

Yoga has been a steady thread in my life since 2010. I completed 500+ hours of certified Yoga Teacher Training between 2010 and 2014, graduating consistently in the top three of my class, followed by another 500+ hours of workshops and intensives with international teachers.

In Amsterdam, I taught full-time for four years, around 14 hours a week, adding roughly 2,700+ hours of teaching. From 2014 to 2018, I returned to Mozambique for two teaching periods — around three months and six months — teaching roughly 4–8 classes a week. That added approximately 150–300 hours of teaching experience.

That brings me to roughly 3,000+ hours of teaching altogether — what I like to call my on-the-mat hours.

I’ve taught Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra, as well as classes and retreats in Mozambique, South Africa and Spain.

I chose not to pursue registration with Yoga Alliance. I value training, structure and recognised standards, but Yoga Alliance registration is a paid membership and doesn’t mean that Yoga Alliance personally assesses teachers.

For me, the training, experience and hours themselves tell a more useful story than a registration badge. Those on-the-mat hours are what matter most to me.

Coaching and Mentoring

Coaching feels like a natural continuation of years spent guiding, mentoring and supporting people through teaching and education.

Over the years, I’ve worked directly with students, young adults and international students, alongside parents and educational teams. Across these roles, I estimate 4,600+ hours spent directly guiding, counselling and coordinating with students.

I’m now deepening this experience through coach training aligned with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I’m working towards my Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential first, with Professional Certified Coach (PCC) as a longer-term goal. Both involve formal assessment as part of the credentialing process.

I continue to develop my coaching through peer coaching, supervision, collaboration and ongoing learning.

English Language Teaching

I’m Cambridge-certified through CELTA and CELTA Young Learners and have taught English to children, teenagers and adults in private language schools, summer camps and public schools in Spain and the Netherlands.

Alongside teaching, I wrote course materials, including four thematic language readers, and contributed educational content for publishers.

I estimate around 1,300+ hours in the classroom.

Communication

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Communication from Fontys University of Applied Sciences and have spent more than 20 years working with words, content and communication.

A lot of what I do now, though, I taught myself along the way. I learned how to build and design websites, create ebooks and turn ideas into useful resources.

Today, I bring those skills together through Studio20, self-publishing my own journals, workbooks and other little things to explore.

I also help other solopreneurs turn their own ideas into websites, ebooks and useful resources — something you can hire me to help with.

Beyond the qualifications

Dutch (Nederlands) is my native language and I’m fluent in English, and I’m always picking up a few words of something new.

I’ve travelled long distances, including an overland journey from Nairobi to Cape Town, and spent extended periods in Mozambique and South Africa. These days I split my time between Amsterdam and an off-grid tiny house life in Mallorca.

All of it feeds the same curiosity that shows up in how I teach, write and coach.
